I always love new music, so when I saw an interesting article about The Mummers doing a cover of The Smashing Pumpkins song 1979, I was ecstatic. I wrote their name down on the white board next to the computer with all of the other band names that I want to check out and went to their MySpace page. I love MySpace when I’m hunting down new music, you can listen to what they sound like, and read their blogs, get concert info, its great. The Mummers have a cool assortment of instruments, its like an orchestra getting caught in a scene from A Midsummers Night Dream in the forest at midnight…you would probably come up with your own metaphor for that, but you get the feeling. Their version of 1979 has a great flow, and I love it because its already a fantastic song, so they did their own thing with it. I go to their site a lot when I’m on the computer so I can listen, because they have no album. I am sending my well wishes to them in hopes that The Mummers create one soon, that would be a must buy for me.
